In our class, we are taking a photography workshop with Churchill parent and professional photographer Kate Settle. Kate has a background in teaching as well as early childhood education and the children are very responsive to her engaging teaching style. We're participating in Kate's workshop CLIC; a program she offers to schools to teach children the basics of photography.
Kate began the workshop by showing the children a photograph of a boy and having them try to determine what he could be doing in the photo.
Get your pretend cameras up!
After the children were shown the basics of using a camera, they were paired up to take snapshots of each other.
Once everyone got a turn to try out the cameras, Kate showed the children some photos she had taken and asked them to guess why they didn't work out.
After our test run inside, we all went out to the yard for a photo scavenger hunt.
